Calgary

The Diva's Weekly Challenge #124: "We Are Calgary"

Staying calm during floods or any tragedy seems impossible but hopefully learning skills including focus and patience helps ease the pain and stops us rushing into a danger zone.
Mooka is a wonderful tangle for going with the flow and feeling calm so I chose mooka and verdigogh  for The Diva's open challenge this week.
My thoughts are of safety for the families struggling with the floods in the Calgary area.

Cross Roads

This week I have been playing with tiles, forming ideas for a ZIA. I enjoyed this string, just like the view of roads crossing at an intersection.

With cross roads on my mind, here is a funny story that happened recently.
Our home is a bit difficult to find for a first time visitor as we live up a gravel road in bush land. A new road has also been constructed down by the creek so we now need to add this road to our list of directions. The other day I received a phone call from friends asking " We are at the cross roads do we turn left or go up Whisky Road?" Well, I am thinking where on earth is Whisky Road? I didn't know where they were, what a confusion! So I sent out a search party, they were soon found just down the hill near a newly erected road sign (that the council had put up since I had been out) - Whisky Road!
After apologies from me and the explanation that I hadn't been on the whisky we had a good laugh.
The creek is called Distillery Creek, I wonder if years ago there was a whisky distillery built close by.

Is it a Zentangle?

The Diva's Weekly Challenge #123: "Guest Post: Is it a Zentangle?"

CZT Maria Vennekens has sent out a challenge to makes us think....... can you do a Zentangle without  using existing patterns or tangeleations* of them? And what are your experiences while doing so?

NO EXISTING TANGLES!!!!

Just start.....corner dots, border, focus, then the ah-ha moment - a nifty string, fill in some spaces - officially black, add some auras, shade......jolly good!
I am not sure if I'm on the right track but the basic Zentangle principle and repetition is there and not a tangle in sight.
Is it a Zentangle?  I relaxed, focused, and created = happy.

Our son Joshua just walked in, he thought I had drawn black leeches!

Beating the Winter Blues

This large Zentangle Inspired Art started with auraknot as a string, from there I went freestyle out and down the page.
Have a super weekend everyone, hope you get a chance to enjoy some tangle time.

On a Winter's Day

It is the 1st day of winter here in Tasmania so I am trying to keep things bright with a big yellow daisy.
Last weekend we went to see the musical Flower Children - The Mamas and Papas story. Casey Donovan who played Mama Cass perfected the same style of sound, dance and sway, she wonderfully graced the stage with a powerful voice in boots and flowing outfits. We loved the whole show, California Dreamin' is still dancing in my head.
