Challenge 195

The Diva's

Weekly Challenge #195: "Turning Old into New"
The clever idea for our challenge this week comes from Sandy Hunter at tanglebucket.blogspot.com
Select favourite freeform tangles and turn them into grid tangles.

If you find tripoli tricky try this, I was surprised how well it turned out. Draw two lines for the grid and one line through the middle of each square .......fill the triangles.  I am going to do this more often.
Thanks Sandy, that's a splendid idea.

Hurry in the corners

Last week our Facebook group Square One - Purely Zentangle featured the tangle hurry.

That was early in the week but a few days later hurry exploded into squill with pops of colour!

Left Hand Challenge

The Diva's
Weekly Challenge 194: “Embracing the Yuck”

Ok! My left hand wobbles, bobbles, feels tight and is not my happy hand but for our guest blogger, Elisa Murphy and Our Diva I am with you and will do It!

Elisa suggests we throw perfection out the window with pride and let your Zentangle freaky-line flag fly.

Admittedly I had put it off until later in the day, flexed, stretched and wiggled my left hand fingers but still felt tight, it wasn't until I'd finished that I thought I am getting better at this and felt quite happy with the finished tile......good luck everyone with your non-dominant hand!

A Sea Purk

Ideas are never ending with Zentangle. By drawing a string first you have already made a start and are not looking at a blank page. Some tangles like purk can be started with a simple oval shaped string line drawn in pencil. Don't be tempted to go over the sting with the pen because then you are restricted on where to go next and you don't achieve nice soft edges.

Ernst's Shell

Have you seen Ernst Haeckel's book Art forms in Nature? Check out some images here. It was recommended to me quite a while ago, you will certainly go 'wow' and find it a splendid resource for inspiration.
Rick and Maria have included it in their bibliography in The Book of Zentangle to so that's a good recommendation.

Have a happy enjoyable weekend!

Seton

The Diva's
Weekly Challenge #192: "UMT - Seton by Cris Letourneau"

My seton may look a bit unorthodox and it turned out to be quite a mystery, I really didn't know where the trails were going to finish up......more unknown out comes! Thanks Cris and Alexa, seton is a fantastic tangle.

Going Around

Aquafleur going around as a border.
I enjoy drawing tangles that give that roundness effect when shaded.
